14th Annual Northern Lights Casino Thanksgiving Powwow

We drove our own vehicle there, and after the concert tried to get the shuttle to take us back we had a few beers at the concert and didn't want to drink and drive Well, duh I already knew that! He told her if our car was towed, there'd be problems to which she responded that it wasn't her problem. Like saving money? More Show less. On our first day, the male concierge said we were allowed to have two permits for both our cars and then this morning, she refused to give us a second one since it was one permit per room. The beds were made and there were fresh towels, but staff had left a pre-printed note on the towels saying they could not "perform all services in the room because our personal effects were in the way. When we discovered all of our dirty towels were still in the bathroom and the room had not been made up we called to complain and ask for fresh towels. We knew nothing could be done since all the non smoking rooms were already booked so we made the best of it and opened up the window as much as we were allowed and ran the air with the door opened. Our guess is neither had been done for several months. Country Inn Walker.{/INSERTKEYS}{/PARAGRAPH} It was awful. I'm sure they used to vacuum the elevators weekly and steam clean once a month. We will avoid this hotel in the future. We stayed for two days, and I was not entirely confident that our room had been changed over when we arrived. We'll be looking for other places next year. No one at the casino knows anything about the service-we were given a phone number to call and when we called were told that the shuttle would arrive at our motel at a certain time but they couldn't guarantee that there would be room on it for us! Just not a place for someone with a gambling issue Log in to get trip updates and message other travelers. Unfortunately, we had booked our room a little late so we were stuck in a smoking room; we didn't think it would be a big deal but as soon as we entered the room, the smell just hit you right in the face. Then we went down to get our parking permits for both our cars and the lady at the desk was so rude! It took us two hours total, from sitting down to being done and all I wanted was pancakes. It's rude and inconsiderate and just overall, bad service. As we approached the room there was a small metal cart in the hallway with a couple of discarded towels in it. The rooms are dingy and in need of an update. Can a person really be that stupid? Date of stay: September Trip type: Traveled as a couple. I hope everyone else had a much better stay because we certainly won't be back after this time. Lowest prices for your stay. We had the buffet with part of the credit and then played the balance at the slots. We realize that housekeeping can only do so much but the smoke smell was nauseating. We were baffled We wanted to bring our room towels but were told that we would be charged if there was one less towel counted in our room and that we weren't allowed to bring room towels to the pool. On our second day, we went to our rooms around p. The carpet was disgusting as well. Small salad bar, very small dessert area, but average food. The elevator carpets are soiled and the hallway carpets look dirty as well. Nearby Hotels. When the server did make it over to the table behind us, she even told them she didn't know they hadn't been helped because she didn't know they were sitting there! It took us almost half an hour to get our drinks and another 15 minutes for our food order. We came through the Walker area and had not planned for our overnight stay. Show Prices. Options are limited in and near Walker, but don't stay at Northern Lights if you can help it. Thank goodness for hunger and syrup we decided to go for a swim and once again, no pool towels! Housekeeping was nice but the counting of the towels was laughable. This was not a good hotel experience. I assumed the person would see the cart in the hall and remove it, but when I went to check it was still sitting in the middle of the hall. We were told that we could stay in town and the casino' shuttle service would take us back and forth. Is it not her job to dispatch the shuttle to the casino??? We search up to sites for the lowest prices. We don't know what happened this year but northern lights seemed to be very understaffed for a yearly event this large. I felt bad for her but at the same time, please train your hosts better dancing fire; if there aren't enough servers, don't keep sitting people and then forgetting about them. Doesn't live up to it's web site or advertising, we won't return. After complaining to the front desk, we left for dinner and whoever finished our room didn't leave new towels, they left extra floor mats instead. See all 68 reviews. We chalked that up to an oversight and decided not to investigate further. This is our sixth annual trip to Walker Minnesota two couples. We tried to explain to her that we had a second one and there was no rule about one car per room and she just refused to work with us. Our room just had an overall feeling of grime. We tried to be understanding since there was a hail storm which apparently caused a lot of people to not show up for work. Decent food, comfortable room and really affordable. It's such a bummer since we had previous good experiences. I then asked her when a shuttle would be showing up and she said that it probably wasn't going to come I then got irate with her and she asked me what she was supposed to do about it!!! For starters, the elevator floors were filthy. We called and requested and were told they were short staffed and didn't have enough towels but would bring some up as soon as they did. Guests 1 room , 2 adults , 0 children Guests 1 2. We've stayed at Northern lights before for moondance jam week but this has got to be one of the worst visits we've ever had. This used to be where we stayed for moondance the past five years because of the convenience of the shuttle and we liked playing in their casinos during down time from the concert but for the price we paid, it definitely isn't worth it when service is just horrible. {PARAGRAPH}{INSERTKEYS}While booking our concert tickets we found out that the hotel was booked. We winded down for the day and decided to go for a swim at 4 in the early evening; we went down to the pool area only to discover there were no pool towels and called to request them. I know there is a labor shortage in this town, but you would think the casino would pull in enough money to turn some of it over to their cleaning staff to give them an incentive to do a good job. No staff around. We asked for an extra towel and were told no. Day 2 of our stay; we woke up and decided to go eat breakfast at the dancing fire restaurant. The advisor at the Fargo Visitor's center recommended the hotel and casino. My husband was livid! I agree with other reviews that state how the employees apparently don't like their I agree with other reviews that state how the employees apparently don't like their jobs We came here to visit the slots and buffet. Maybe Northern Lights is going through a rough patch but under staffing the hotel is going to cost them customers, not gain them customers. I don't think I walked barefoot this entire time. From the outset, it appeared that none of the employees are happy - polite, but unsmiling, businesslike. Our check in was fine; it went smoothly and the concierge was nice. What a joke! During our recent stay we saw dirt in corners, wallpaper splattered in places, mildew at the top of the shower and the wall covering was peeling away. Older machines, not too clean, and everyone complaining about the low payouts. No one seems to have very high standards at this place or care about presenting a clean and comfortable setting. I was on the phone when more towels were brought, so did not speak to the cleaning staff. After a mediocre breakfast I ordered pancakes, which looked pretty burnt. AND then she basically threatened to have one of our cars towed if we didn't have a permit hung on our car in the lot. But the hostess just kept sitting table after table after table when the server was clearly overwhelmed with everything she already had to do. I grabbed the metal cart from the hall and threw all the dirty towels in it. The next day, however, we came back at p. That's a good look! Everything felt dark and old. They were obviously under staffed; there seemed to be only one server for the whole room. We were down there for half an hour and no one came so we walked up to our rooms, dripping wet.
